Business Analyst - IS - Corporate - Columbus, OH

This critical role will be part of a growing and dynamic team. The successful candidate will be exposed to many of the internal facets of business functions while supporting the executive direction within IS. The Business Analyst position will lead the analysis, documentation and management of business requirements throughout the life of projects, and will ensure that requirements are fully understood by the technical team before solutions are designed and implemented.  This position will collaborate with the project managers to ensure project scope, objectives, status, and financials are defined and maintained through project life cycles.

Essential Functions

  • Create documentation, including process flows, functional and non-functional requirements, actors & roles.

  • Obtain stakeholder approval of requirements and drive project acceptance.

  • Create UAT test scripts and facilitate UAT sessions, working closely with development staff to remediate all issues identified during testing.

  • Assist CIO in effective management of organization in the areas of budgets and forecasts, resources, contracts, project management, risk management, PMO and accomplishment reporting.

  • Participate in yearly budgeting process and maintain forecasts for technology groups: communicate deadlines, follow up on deliverables to ensure timely execution, review data to ensure completeness and accuracy.

  • Responsible for maintaining portfolio of projects, ensuring overall quality of data and timely updates from Project Managers.

  • Assist with periodic and ad-hoc IS Management Reporting – bi-weekly/monthly/semi-annual and annual.

  • The position will also be responsible for handling a variety of ad-hoc and CIO requests, projects, and presentations.

  • Gather business requirements and break them down into relevant, accurate and detailed functional requirements and test scenarios.

  • Create detailed user acceptance test scripts that can be understood by business stakeholders and software developers.

  • Facilitate meetings with business stakeholders and technical resources.

  • Provide analytical and research support to the CIO and staff.

  • In partnership with the IS Coordinator, optimize time management of CIO – includes strategic and tactical logistics.

  • Assist with ensuring structured project management throughout IS PMO.

  • Resolve conflicting end-user requirements.

  • Maintain knowledge of the IT industry; analyze the abilities of tools and technologies, compare with the need of the business, then recommend potential solutions to managers within the business.

  • Facilitate evaluation of delivered technology solutions to ensure they satisfy the business needs.

  • Collaborate with developers to ensure adherence to business requirements and UI design specifications.

  • Develop training and support materials.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Highly competent and detail-oriented in executing tasks with the ability to manage multiple priorities and a significant volume of diverse tasks while consistently delivering high quality work.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, ambiguous environment. Proven track record of establishing credibility with organizations.

  • Excellent presentation and documentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – must be able to build connections within and between teams, appropriately represent the CIO’s vision/voice, distill the essence of complex technical concepts, and apply the most appropriate approach for successfully working with others through a wide range of experience and job levels across the organization.

  • Proven ability to execute against tight timelines and within an environment of organizational change.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills – follow through to complete project with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated self-starter and creative thinker who can handle a considerable amount of unstructured real world data and be comfortable thinking about solving problems using new and innovative approaches.

  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas, both written and oral, to internal and external audiences. Ability to vary communication style based on the audience

  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization and build strong relationships with team members, stakeholders, vendors, and sponsors.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 8+ years of business analysis or systems analysis experience.
  • Solid understanding of Project Management methodologies
  • Understanding of software development life cycle and how it relates to projects
  • Project coordination and/or leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with project management tools preferred.
  • Very strong experience with MS Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Projects
