Dayton Mall and Snuggled Up Win Big at RECon’s MAXI Awards
COLUMBUS, OH – May 21, 2014 – Glimcher Realty Trust (NYSE: GRT). At the MAXI Awards on Sunday, May 18 in Las Vegas, Dayton Mall’s #DaytonSnugglesUp holiday community outreach campaign benefitting Snuggled Up, Inc. took home three prestigious honors and a cash prize, and helped raise awareness of the mission of Snuggled Up at the national level.
The 2013 holiday program was first recognized by the ICSC Foundation with the Central U.S. Community Support Award, and was then selected out of all regional U.S. award winners to be named the Overall U.S. Community Support Award winner, which comes with a $10,000 gift to Snuggled Up to further its mission. Snuggled Up founder Trisha Baxter attended the awards ceremony and recited the poem she wrote, “I Never Knew,” which described her feelings when she found out that half of her class of six- and seven-year-olds didn’t have a bed to sleep in, which was the impetus for her founding of the organization.
Dayton Snuggles Up also took home the industry’s highest marketing honor, a gold MAXI Award, in the Cause-Related Marketing category. The program will now be entered in ICSC's 2015 VIVA Best-of-the-Best (Vision, Innovation, Value, Achievement) Awards.
